Forest permits for harvesting woody species

Forest permits for harvesting woody species

Harvesting of woody tree and shrub species is governed by  the Forest Act (2001) and Regulations (2015) . The Act states that anyone who partakes in harvesting, transporting and exporting or marketing forest resources has to be in possession of a permit issued by the nearest forestry office. This Act is administered by the Directorate of Forestry which is responsible for issuing permits in the country.

All permits are issued by all forestry offices except for export permits (commercial) which needs to be issued in Windhoek, Otjiwarongo and Grootfontein offices only. Permits require all applicants to provide their identification document and other documents specified depending on the nature and type of permit applied for.
