Developing a Monitoring and Evaluation System for Bush Control

The De-bushing Advisory Service held a consultative stakeholder workshop on the development of a monitoring and evaluation system for bush control in Namibia. The system is aimed at capturing up to date information on bush control and biomass utilisation sector. The system will measure performance indicators on institutional capacities, research and development, bush control activities, employment created in the sector, as well as market and business development. During the workshop, stakeholders had an opportunity to discuss the proposed indicators and identify key institutions to provide data. It was strongly emphasised to align targets to existing national development plans and policies. The workshop also provided an opportunity to revise and agree upon the proposed indicators.   Stakeholders such as the Ministry of Agriculture, Water and Forestry, Ministry of Environment and Tourism, Namibia Statistics Agency, National Planning Commission, Agri-Advisory Service, Namibia Charcoal Association, Agra Provision and the Namibia Biomass Industry Group were among the participants.
