DAS hosts its first Farmers Information Sharing Session in Khomas

In collaboration with the Directorate of Agricultural Production Extension Engineering Services (DAPEES) of the Ministry of Agriculture, Water and Forestry (MAWF), the De-bushing Advisory Service hosted its first information sharing session on bush encroachment management in Windhoek on the 28 March 2018 at the DAPEES office.

This information session was attended by farmers from Khomas, mainly from  Windhoek and surroundings. The presentation focused on bush encroachment,  its management and value addition opportunities.

Farmers Information Sharing sessions  such as this initiative aims to address various topics on livestock production, rangeland management, bush encroachment and related agricultural topics. This is also a platform for farmers to discuss agricultural and farming issues which are of concern with them.The De-bushing Advisory Service will be utilising this platform more often to discuss in depth issues on bush control, environmental compliance for bush harvesting and share relevant publications with farmers who are tackling bush encroachment. Farmers were presented with the Bush Control Manual and the Decision Support System,  which guide with the implementation of Bush encroachment and Bush control.
