Following its release in October 2016, this booklet defines the Namibian environmental and forestry laws and regulations for all partaking in bush thinning projects and woody biomass harvesting. The booklet provides streamlined required processes by the Directorate of Forestry and the Department of Environmental Affairs to avoid delays and high costs for those undertaking bush thinning activities.
The booklet also contains a generic Environmental Management Plan to be used to apply for an Environmental Clearance Certificate from DEA for projects that exceeds 150 hectares per year of bush thinning. It further includes the list of protected trees as listed under the Forestry Act for farmers and all undertaking bush thinning to take special care and avoid the removal of protected species.
Accordingly, the second version is this booklet includes amendments addressing forestry permit requirements and some additional information on regulations.
