The Cheetah Conservation Fund is in the process of developing a Biomass Technology Demonstration Centre. The primary objective of this centre is to support the uptake of biomass in Namibia. The center is located in central Namibia, an ideal region for demonstrating the opportunities related to biomass technologies with up to 15 tons per hectare of encroacher bush. The centre will focus on developing enterprises, creating employment, electricity generation while restoring wildlife habitat and farmland productivity. The center will conduct wide research on technology for briquettes log, lump charcoal, charcoal hex log and pellet production in future. The technology research will draw on a large network of engineers, researchers and academics to evaluate and implement technology as well as determine suitability for the type of biomass.
CCF is a leading researcher in the area of encroacher bush harvesting methods in Namibia and currently produces bushbloks which are FSC certified.
